Creating This Site (Current Version)

·2 mins

Introduction
#

In this blog post I will mainly cover how I applied the Blowfish Theme to this site.

If you want to read thorugh what I did before, check out this post below here.

Now lets get back to this post.

Why I switched to Blowfish
#

Blowfish theme

I chose Blowfish over Congo as I had issues maintaining Congo and it was stuck on an older release of Hugo. When it works, it’s a nice theme to use.

Installing Blowfish
#

I followed the official Blowfish Installation Guide to set up the theme using Git as it’s the easiest way to keep it updated. It involved initialising a git repository for the site directory and adding Blowfish as a submodule.

Configuring and Customizing Blowfish
#

After following the installation guide for Blowfish, I configured the theme settings to match my preference. This involved modifying the hugo.toml, params.toml and other .toml files. I adjusted settings such as the site title, navigation, and other theme-specific options.

Blowfish offers extensive customization options which I used to tune it to my preferences.

Conclusion
#

The general process for building and deploying remains the same as described in the previous post. By following these steps, this is how I was able to build and deploy my static site using Hugo and the Blowfish theme. This process ensures that my website is up to date and accessible to users. My overall experience with Hugo and the Blowfish theme is mostly positive.
